Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American model, actress and model. Most famously, she is known for her work in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as having the role of lead singer in Apollonia 6, a girl group. The actress and singer was christened Apollonia by Prince was one of several female musicians during the 1980s who benefited from her association with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her first professional venture was as a model during the mid 1970s. Kotero also performed on CHiPS. Kotero was a lead actress for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (when Prince changed her name as well). Also in the same year, she took over Vanity as part of the group Vanity 6 and performed alongside their name as Apollonia 6 in the film. She had a greater influence on the charts by being Prince's dance partner in Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. Kotero broke up with Prince following their falling apart over her future work. Over the next few years she was in a number of tiny film projects. (She is reported to have refused to participate in The Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon.) The singer later landed a role in the evening show Falcon Crest between 1985-1986. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, but it was not a great collection of R&B/dance music that did not catch the attention of the public. The album was quickly wiped in the shuffle. Apollonia continued to act (if somewhat under the radar) by playing small television performances, a few films, and a DVD for exercise. In 1997 Apollonia released a Spanish/English album that was titled Stay with me. In later years, after returning to school and receiving her degree in filmmaking, she started her own production company. Apollonia is a multi-talented person. She's been a model, actress and songwriter as well as a an agent for talent. She is well known as an actress in the role in the movie Purple Rain from 1984. Other films and TV programs comprise Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony and many others. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She was part of a number of contests and pageants.
